Enjoy the Outdoors in Pleasant Weather

What is the weather generally like during May and June? Temperatures during these months tend to be in the mid-60s to low 70s, and it’s rarely especially hot or cold. How much does it rain? Drizzles are somewhat common but downpours are rare, and we still have plenty of sunny days, especially going into late May. The milder weather and smaller crowds make for a much more pleasant vacation experience, with no need to pack heavy warm clothes or worry about getting too hot, as a light jacket is often all that is needed. Make sure and check the forecast for days planned with activities and you can easily create an itinerary that maximizes time on days with more sunshine!

See the Beauty of New England

One of the best ways to explore our beautiful area is on one of the many nearby hiking trails. See the full beauty of spring flowers in bloom on the Jordon Pond Loop in Acadia National Park, a relatively easy 3-mile trail that takes you past scenic vistas and gorgeous fields of wildflowers. Another fun activity during this time of year is birding, and a decent pair of binoculars will let you see the spring migration returning from their winter roosts. Great Head Trail in particular is an excellent hike for birdwatching and has absolutely stunning ocean views.

Another way to spend time in the great outdoors is with a kayaking excursion, especially popular for guests in late May/early June. Both Acadia Sea Kayaking Adventures and Maine State Sea Kayak come highly recommended and have professional guides with solid equipment. Explore the coastline and catch a glimpse of coastal aquatic life for a unique look at Bar Harbor and the surrounding area. Paddle around on calm seas with temperate weather and take it all in, an experience that not as many get to enjoy that only visit in the busier months.

Delectable cuisine can be found on many a corner in this culturally rich area, with a plethora of excellent restaurants and eateries and everything from casual dining to refined establishments. In particular, we highly recommend a couple that we have found to be consistent favorites among our guests, and that we simply enjoy for their excellent food. Side Street Cafe is the place to go for a casual bite or refreshing draft beer, with some unique local favorites like their signature mac and cheese menu or cocktails that change with the seasons.

Have some of the best seafood in the area at the oceanside dining of Batson River Fish Camp, a local favorite with a charming atmosphere and delicious bites! But you don’t have to go far for a delectable bite to eat, as our very own Rusticator Lounge serves up craft cocktails and small plates on site, that way you can treat yourself with a glass of wine on a nice evening in that’s just steps away from your luxurious accommodations.
